A new way to measure how AI agents handle the routine analyses of wet-lab science—BioBasicsBench. Developed with Ligo, a biotech company focused on enzyme design, the benchmark draws on 100 tasks from real experiments to test whether agents can interpret raw lab data, identify errors, and recognize when the evidence doesn’t support a conclusion. Accelerating biological research starts with getting the everyday work right. BioBasicsBench shows where models need to improve, and helps us track what those gains mean for scientific progress, biosafety, and biosecurity. https://openai.com/index/measuring-how-ai-agents-handle-wet-lab-science/

OpenAI introduces a rigorous benchmark to ensure AI models accurately process biological data, a key step toward accelerating lab research.

The worst part of today's announcement is that most of us realize this isn't just about a single vehicle being canceled. Tesla is telling us they're not interested in the consumer market. This is heartbreaking because we love these vehicles. We love owning them, we love the updates and most of all, we have loved the journey of owning an EV early on and seeing the incredible progress of FSD. The Model 3/Y are here today, but at some point in the future they likely won't be. In some ways, it feels like consumers were just a stepping stone for Tesla to get to autonomous vehicles and robots. In the same way, Tesla used the more expensive Model S to get to the Model 3, Supervised FSD was used to get to robotaxis... and we can't help but feel a little hurt and disappointed.

Fans react to Tesla pivoting away from consumer cars toward autonomous robotaxis, marking the end of an era for early EV adopters.

I have been talking with, and consoling Tesla Cybertruck fans. Truth is I am jealous of every one of them. I got to drive one for a day around Las Vegas, Nevada. Was on a curvy road with no traffic. So I opened it up. Was like driving a space craft. Bulletproof. The best tech. Innovation out the wazoo. It is the best vehicle on the road. By far. I couldn’t convince my wife to like the design and I consider that one of my many moral failures. It is a day of grief and embarrassment. But @elonmusk learned a lot. Someday he will come out with a family of vehicles rethought for autonomy. Right now there is a ton of unsatisfied demand in San Francisco for the Cybercab which is where my eight-year-old robot is driving me to go see @stash_pomichter’s new robot-building factory. But all this was put in perspective for me by @JohnNosta’s death. His items showed up in my feed literally every day for many years. I am still processing this news. Let’s just say I am glad the car is driving. I talked with him in many space. Can’t believe he is gone. This loss is 1000x worse. Just can’t believe it. Back to the triangle mobile. I will always take a ride in a Cybertruck. The owners are all cultural revolutionaries. Took on a ton of hate and turned it into love for triangles. Oh and @teslaownersSV I will always be in your debt for letting me drive yours. Seen here in front of my house. There is a future in robots. Cybercab is better for San Francisco. Now gotta sell that to Democrats who want to eviscerate Elon and say so on their shows. Our story is we talk about lives saved and interviews with people in the street. They will tell you. They want Robotaxi. From inside a @Waymo (I interview Waymo riders to learn about how the consumer is responding to autonomous vehicles/robotaxi and one woman told me about her rides in a Tesla. Or go to any tech company and ask around). Everyone wants competition. Even @elonmusk The dude lives for that. San Francisco will go gold on the first day of Cybercab. Our city was built on gold. And I saw how deeply it changed Austin. Actually the Cybertruck isn’t actually best on the road. Cybercab is. More innovation is in the trunk @live_munro showed on its YouTube interview with Cybercab execs than in the entire Cybertruck. It is a genius example of engineering excellence. Cybertruck is too. Wish more of us could have gotten one. And I feel sorry for people who don’t have a Tesla. They don’t know what they are missing.

Following Tesla's shift toward autonomy, enthusiasts mourn the discontinuation of the Cybertruck while praising its engineering leaps.
