What we collect
If you subscribe to The Brief, we store your email address and chosen email language. We also record the signup page and campaign, when available, to understand how readers find us. Visits use basic analytics, and campaign details are kept in session storage for up to 30 minutes without an email address or personal identifier.
If you comment on a story, we store the name you type, your comment, and — only if you choose to give it — your email, which is never shown and is used solely to tell you about replies. To stop spam we keep a salted hash of your connection, never the address itself. Comments pass an automatic check for abuse before they appear.
What we don't do
- No tracking pixels, no fingerprinting, no ad networks.
- We never sell, rent, or share your personal information.
- We don't build behavioral profiles.
- We don't use your data to train machine learning models.
Cookies
Only the essential ones the site needs to work — including one that remembers the language you picked. No advertising or tracking cookies.
