Former Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon became a media superstar after going public with his AI fears. He insisted that he wasn’t working with any third party organizations. Familiar sources told us a different story: DEY., a PR firm representing many of the most prominent AI safetyists, was booking his interviews. One source, who had direct knowledge, even said DEY. preemptively booked Nate Soares, a prominent AI safety figure, for interviews that directly overlapped with Jacob going public. Jacob working with DEY. is notable for two reasons: first, as mentioned, he previously said he wasn’t working with third parties. Second, we are in the middle of a national conversation about the future of AI that is actively determining how we regulate the most powerful technology in the world, largely thanks to the panic stirred up by Jacob — and it’s in the public’s interest to know who, exactly, is behind it. Investigative reporting reveals that a prominent AI safety whistleblower secretly used a coordinated PR firm to amplify his media campaign.

You can use Claude after hitting rate limits Anthropic secretly dropped this option alongside Opus 5.5 for some users In Claude Code, run "/low-priority" This will let you use Claude after hitting limits, but it'll be slower & only work if theres capacity at that time Enjoy!

Anthropic quietly introduced a fallback tier for its coding assistant, letting developers trade speed for access during heavy use.

Today, we'll resume charging for requests our safeguards block before Claude responds. This only applies in categories with low false positive rates: biology, distillation attacks, and frontier LLM development. We've seen some coordinated attacks on our systems in recent weeks, and this is one layer of defense. In recent testing, 99.7% of accounts using Claude Code, Claude.ai, or Cowork did not hit any of these newly "billable blocks." The classifiers behind the blocks we’re resuming charging for today are tuned to have a <0.1% false positive rate. We know that's not 0%, and we're going to keep improving them so they interrupt your work less often. If you think a request has been blocked incorrectly, please report it with /feedback in Claude Code. https://platform.claude.com/docs/en/build-with-claude/refusals-and-fallback#how-refusals-are-billed

Anthropic is introducing financial friction to deter misuse of its models, charging users for prompts that trigger safety blocks.
