What it is

The Bank of Japan's Policy Board meets to determine its short-term interest rate targets and asset purchase policies. This meeting also features the quarterly release of the Outlook for Economic Activity and Prices.

Why it matters

The BoJ's slow departure from its historic ultra-loose monetary policy has massive implications for global carry trades, yen crosses, and bond markets. Revised projections in the Outlook Report will signal the central bank's confidence in sustainable inflation, directly dictating market volatility.
