What it is

The US nationwide elections mark the midpoint of the current presidential term. Voters will decide all 435 seats in the House of Representatives, 33 Class 2 seats in the Senate, and more than 30 state governorships.

Why it matters

Control of Congress determines the feasibility of the sitting president's legislative agenda, including tax policies, tech antitrust regulations, and AI oversight. A divided government often forces legislative gridlock, which markets typically favor due to policy predictability, while sweeping single-party control could herald major regulatory shifts.

What to watch

  1. 01

The balance of power in the Senate and House.

  2. 02

Outcomes of key gubernatorial races shaping state-level regulations.

  3. 03

The immediate market reaction to potential gridlock or a unified government.
